Motivation & Inspiration

Basketball Dunk

In 1997, in a commercial shot for Nike, Michael Jordan said, “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game- winning shot—and missed. I’ve failed over, and over, and over again in my life. And that is why —I succeed.” The quote not only proves the greatest to play the game can fail, but it also shows he accepts it. The commercial gives you the opportunity to relate to MJ, but also motivates you to try harder; if Jordan can miss game-winning shots 26 times and continue to be the greatest, then what does that say about an ordinary person? Failure keeps you humble, but it also teaches a lesson. The hardest lessons we’re going to learn come from failure, but what you decide next defines who you are it’s as simple as that. Due to current events, I think the world needs all the motivation it can get. Motivate yourself to be a better individual, not only for yourself, but for the people around you. Times are difficult and people all over the world have lost plenty. The only counsel I can offer is to not distress during this pandemic. Instead, endure the hardships, and if you fail, then get up and try again, and again, until you get it right.
